COURSE INFORMATION SHEET 10:   Applying Engineering Principles

 

What is Applying Engineering Principles?
Applying Engineering Principles helps you develop the basic knowledge and fundamental skills that will allow you to progress to a course related to Engineering.

What qualities will I need?
You will need some Mathematical and Science knowledge as you will be working with the laws of Physics and making calculations. You will also need to be good with your hands and become able to cut and shape metal.

 What will I need to wear?
Overalls will be necessary when on practical activities. You may also be required to wear safety boots and hat.

What range of courses are available?
This is a Level 1 course that will qualify you to do a basic job but may lead to an apprenticeship. It provides essential preparation for Level 2 courses in Plumbing or Electro-Technology.

Level 2 courses qualify you to do a skilled job once you have had a little more experience.

What opportunities will this course open for me?
Most Engineering students will progress on to an apprenticeship or work with a company that will offer further training. Successful Level 2 students may continue to Level 3 through Further Education
