e receive a number of calls and letters at the TVC office with requests for advice. Often these calls reflect universal problems with perhaps universal solutions so we have decided to share some of our responses with our readers! Here are some recent calls for help.:
Dear TVC
I am having difficulty in getting up in time to catch the bus to my TVC training placement. The driver will not wait for me and I have been late several times. Twice I have not got in at all. This has serious consequences as I lose my EMA money. I stay up late sometimes, watching programmes on Sky (educational - honest!) and oversleep in the morning. How can I persuade my Mum to get me a scooter so that I can travel to training independently? I know this will help me to get there on time. Adam

Dear TVC
I am really enjoying my TVC training but am having problems with my work placement. They insist that I wear this really un-cool uniform, and a really stupid hat. It makes me feel like an old granny!
When I turn up in my normal clothes I get sent home and this could mean I don't complete my qualification.
Can you tell them that I don't need to wear the uniform because I am in just one day a week?

Dear TVC
I am worried about getting to my TVC training provider. It's a long way from where I live and on a different bus route from my school. I've never been there before and I am worried about getting on the wrong bus and getting lost. Are there any satellite navigation systems available?

Dear TVC
I am going to do a TVC course next year and am worried about the lunch arrangements. You see, I get free school meals when I am at school but I am not sure what I will do for food when I am out of school all day training. I get really hungry at mid day and if I do not have anything to eat my concentration wanders in the afternoon.

Dear TVC
The course I want to do is off my school site. I am worried that when I get there I will be picked on by the kids from other schools. How will I be protected from this?

Hi TVC
I'm complaining about my work experience placement.
I am treated as slave labour. I work very hard all day for no money and I have to stay on until 5 o'clock when they close. Why can't I get paid or leave at 3.30 when school closes.
